Accessibility statement

This accessibility statement applies to the UK Standard Skills Classification (SSC) Explorer website at skillsclassification.org.

This website is run by the University of Warwick Institute for Employment Research. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We have also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We believe this website is currently partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard.

This website is currently in open beta. This means we are actively developing and improving the service, and we are working to ensure it meets accessibility standards.

Known limitations

We are aware of the following accessibility limitations on mobile devices:

  • Explorer pages: The Skills, Occupations and Knowledge Areas explorer pages have limited mobile responsiveness. These pages are optimised for desktop and tablet viewing and may not display correctly on smaller mobile screens.
  • Account pages: The user account management pages have known limitations on mobile devices and are best viewed on desktop or tablet.
  • Other pages: While we aim for mobile responsiveness across the site, some pages may have display issues on mobile devices that we have not yet identified. We are actively working to improve mobile experience across the entire site.

We recommend using a desktop or tablet device for the best experience when using the explorer and account features. We are working to improve mobile accessibility as part of our ongoing development.

If you discover any accessibility issues while using this website, please report them to us so we can address them.
